Shannon (6) best angle 5x7

Dr. Shannon Koshman, BKin, MS, DC

It was a lengthy educational journey that finally brought Dr. Shannon Koshman to Chiropractic. Dr. Koshman grew up in Langley, BC and graduated from Trinity Western University in 2007 with a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology and a Biology minor. While attending TWU, she had the privilege of playing on the women’s volleyball team as well as work as a student therapist for the men’s basketball team.

After graduation she moved to Calgary, AB and obtained her massage therapy certification at Mount Royal University while working as a kinesiologist at a local physiotherapy clinic. Dr. Koshman then moved to Caronport, SK to play a year of volleyball at Briercrest College and work as a RMT. After vowing never to marry a prairie boy, she of course met and married one. Dr. Koshman and her husband Thomas ended up staying in Caronport for 5 years while Thomas finished up his education and college hockey career. During this time, Dr. Koshman continued to work as a RMT as well as coach the local high school varsity girl’s volleyball team.

It was her years of working as a kinesiologist and massage therapist that drew Dr. Koshman to the idea of chiropractic. After referring many a client to local chiropractors and experiencing the benefits herself she decided to look into chiropractic schools. Dr. Koshman attended the University of Western States in Portland, OR.  Here, Dr. Koshman obtained her Doctorate in Chiropractic as well as a Masters degree in Exercise and Sport Science, completing both degrees concurrently and in three years.

Dr. Koshman draws on her years of kinesiology, massage and sport experience to help patients from all walks of life live active, healthy and pain-free lives.

Joyce (4) 5x7

Joyce VanDyk, RMT

Joyce is a graduate of Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in Vernon (3000 hour program).  She has been practicing as a Registered Massage Therapist since 2003.  Joyce has also had experience working in a spa environment both in Alberta and BC.

Joyce moved to Chilliwack from the Okanagan and started working at a Physiotherapy clinic in town. After 13 years with that clinic, she decided it was time for change and when the opportunity came along in to join the team at Heritage Chiropractic, she felt she could not pass it up.

In 2005, Joyce pursued post graduate training with the Dr. Vodder School of North America for Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Combined Decongestive Therapy.  In 2006, she completed the 4 part program and became a Vodder Certified MLD/CDT therapist.  She continues to maintain her certification every 2 years.

Joyce favors using Myofascial Release techniques, but also likes to integrate a variety of other soft tissue methods including Swedish, trigger point therapy, and deep tissue release throughout her treatments to achieve optimal results.

Her hands are her tools.  She likes to utilize whatever she has learned over the years and pulls those out of her “tool box” when needed.  Joyce has a keen sense and is very intuitive during her treatments, “she just knows where to go”.

Outside of the clinic, Joyce works on improving her golf game and enjoys fly fishing.  Once in a while Joyce and her husband like to take off on an adventure to fish the flats somewhere tropical, with a friendly competition in who can catch the biggest Bonefish! Going to the gym is her way to help relieve any stress and tension.  She also has a background in Fashion Design, and when time permits, she likes to allow her creative side to cut loose.
